Fire Chief Chris Barnes

In 2009, Chris’ fire service career began at Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance. During this time, he quickly established himself as a leader and was promoted to AIC Lieutenant in 2012. While working on a formal education at Linn Benton Community College and Chemeketa Community College he worked concurrently for a private ambulance company serving Lane County and the Oregon Department of Forestry as an engine boss.

In 2015, Chris accepted a position with Mohawk Valley Rural Fire District as a Maintenance Specialist and Firefighter EMT. During his tenure Chris was promoted quickly through the ranks which culminated in the rank of Division Chief.

May 2nd, 2022, Chris Barnes begins his new role as Fire Chief for Monroe Rural Fire Protection District. 

His expertise in the fire service and knowledge of rural communities is an exceptional asset as we continue to provide the highest level of service to Monroe and surrounding areas for years to come.
